Echoes of the Water: A New Artistic Collaboration by Tracey Welch (Sheffield) and Brett Evans Biedscheid (Bonsall)
This unique exhibition brings together Welch’s photographic expertise and artistic vision, inspired by the canal system and its inhabitants, with Biedscheid’s storytelling prowess through illustration and constructed images, resulting in powerful, atmospheric, and emotive visual narratives.
Echoes of the Water is a compelling fusion of photography and illustration that delves into the lives and surroundings of the boating community. Welch’s photographs capture the essence of the canal and its characters, while Biedscheid transforms these images into abstract, ethereal representations that explore alternative imaginations of canal life. The synergy between Welch and Biedscheid’s creative processes is evident, as they leverage each other’s strengths to produce a series of evocative visual narratives.
Since launching this work in late 2024, Echoes of the Water has been shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography’s ‘Portrait of Britain’ and Shot Up North.
