LAURA PARKER

Artist Statement

For me, art is an exploration into life’s richness. Working on wooden panels I build layers of paint and collage, which will then be broken through at some stage. Using colour and texture the main theme is often about what is revealed beneath, an uncovering or emergence. My work has been predominantly abstract, however, more recently I have been exploring the addition of drawings and more representational subjects. I take my inspiration from a sense of connection with “what has gone before”, the rhythm of nature and the natural world.
