I work from life, from what I see. My subjects are people and places I know and love. Sometimes light falls in a particular way that is like a poem which connects with my unconscious and my imagination. It has an emotional resonance. So while I am rooted in the world I can see, I am also reaching for that combination of momentary experience and an expression of an essential image.
