Abbie Sunter

Artist Statement

Graduating with a BA Hons in Fine Art in 2013, Abbie is currently undertaking her MA Arts degree at The University of Derby. Working out of her private studio at Banks Mill in Derby, Abbie has shown her work in several exhibitions throughout the UK including The Contemporary Young Artist Award, The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair and Art in Clay Windsor.

Focusing on ceramic sculpture Abbie’s work is inspired by the intersection of the natural world, spirituality and ancient culture. Her pieces draw heavily on the influences of ancient history and folklore but her illustrative and colourful animal sculptures exist in their own contemporary world of joy and wonder.
