Buird Pottery

Artist Statement

We make Buird pottery in Wirksworth, using Staffordshire clay to hand throw pots in our light-filled workshop overlooking the green hills in the distance.

We have taught and supported others to discover the wonder of throwing and pottery for many years. Buird is our own work – we both grew up in Scotland, so an ancient Scottish word for table felt apt. It’s pronounced ‘boord’.

It takes 4 weeks to complete each batch using stoneware clay which is hard wearing and ideal for domestic ware. We hope you enjoy using them as much as we enjoy making them.
