Cath Dunn

Artist Statement

I am inspired by natural forms and a sense of place – rocks, trees, the lie of the land – but my primary interest lies in pattern,  abstraction, movement and rhythm.

My work often reflects the edges of things, literally as in the gritstone edges around Sheffield or more obliquely as in the edges of life. As well as drawing inspiration from the Pennine landscape, I am particularly drawn to the edges of the country, to Orkney and Cornwall. Colour, influenced by living in Africa for many years, is central to my work.  I am an award-winning painter/printmaker based in Sheffield/Edinburgh.
