My work as a printmaker has been influenced by the natural landscape of the West Coast of Ireland and the UK. I am inspired by its dramatic weather fronts, primordial feel and the remnants of past human activity scattered around.
I combine abstracted painterly marks, using printing ink over metal plates alongside controlled lines using drypoint. I try to reflect a tension between chaos and control reflecting on how I see human endeavours in the landscape and life.
Each monoprint landscape image goes through great change until finally one ‘moment in time’ is captured when put through the press.
