Informed by my previous career as a nurse, I explore the nature of time and tide, focusing on life’s never-ending circle and our place in it. The earth-like texture of oil paints grounds my work. There’s timelessness, but also change.
My still life paintings inspect life’s beauty and fragility. Ripe fruit and vegetables can nourish or rot. Glass vessels could shatter.
In my seascapes, light scatters across waves and clouds, marking fleeting moments of turbulence or tranquillity against the endless horizon. Isolated crofts in my landscapes contrast inside and outside, defining spaces of safety or vulnerability.
