Heather Rigg

Artist Statement

My practice is in exploring and interpreting the hidden narratives of a familial collection of objects. Such objects hold the past, becoming vehicles for memory and emotions. I use a diversity of materials and techniques to create a layered interpretation, hinting at a family history and the untold complexities of difficult relationships as well as revealing the positive aspects. Using gathered pine needles, branches and plants, I will be showing large installations and as well as smaller works including paper prickings. My exhibition will be on the ground floor of the historic Providence Mill, originally used for manufacturing red tape.
