Artist Statement

When a neighbour left fencepost wire out for the scrapman, I decided to repurpose it as armature for 3-dimensional caricatures.
Until then I’d worked as a 2-dimensional upcycling artist, now pretty much anything is possible. An old advert for a Butlins holiday camp is a prop for a holiday maker, artists paint with broken paintbrushes and chunky beads become beachballs for Victorian swimmers. A broken bicycle mud guard becomes a slide, whilst cyclists and walkers pose with old maps
I sew with ‘Pearl the Singer’ my 1930s sewing machine; as like everything else I use, she has her own history.
