Artist Statement

Inspired by the natural world and the ebb and flow of nature’s fruition I draw inspiration from its somewhat secret and hidden beauty. Sea life, rock pools, the emerging seeds of plants, fruits and trees all inform my sculptural pieces. My work is mainly hand built and I use pinching, coiling and press moulding techniques of clay fabrication to produce both large and small scale ceramics. Surface texture is achieved through impressed, carved and raised decorative techniques. My work is stoneware fired and reflects a random freeness created by both colour and texture within the glaze effects giving both a visual and tactile experience.
