- Artist Statement
For me, art making involves stepping into the unknown with a sense of curiosity and experimentation. My work is abstract using acrylics and other mixed media. I work on wooden panels and use paper from my childhood encyclopedias to build layers which are then painted over. I scratch through the surfaces to reveal layers beneath. For me this process mirrors life as I have to work out what should be revealed and what needs to remain hidden. I take inspiration from a sense of connection with “what has gone before”, the rhythm of nature and the natural world.
