Artist Statement

My work is a series of narratives through stitched drawings. The work is intentionally simple, has a minimalistic style, slightly surreal.  The material is old, recycled cloth, pre-used; the imperfections bring a depth to the work in the simplest of ways. The work is a collection of themes, the themes change as and when the inspiration changes. Past work has been ‘iconoclastic’, ‘religion’, ‘women and plants’ and ‘family of dogs’. A recent theme was ‘plantswomen’ based on the artists own experience of developing a garden during covid lockdown. The present theme, ‘our nurture’, brings together those themes.
