How old am I?
Jean is 90 years old. Until recently she lived alone in the house that she has called home since 1958. Jean’s sofa is a ship from which she navigates the world, and so long as there is tea, then all is well.
Jean is my aunt, and I am her only living relative in the UK. In 2020 Jean began to exhibit signs of dementia and I found myself unexpectedly thrust into a position of sole carer.
How old am I? is an installation piece incorporating still images and multiple videos. It’s about Jean, her changing world, and our evolving relationship.
