Mark Langley is a multi award winning artist from Chellaston, Derby, later settling and working from Belper, Derbyshire. He is becoming renowned for his captivating pointillist oil paintings now, but was originally known for his exquisite pencil and colour pencil drawings. With a keen eye for detail and an unwavering dedication to precision, Mark’s artistry unveils the beauty of landscapes, architecture and animals.
During the 2020 lockdown Mark began experimenting with oil painting in order to illustrate his daily walks in the local countryside and this ultimately lead to him becoming one of a tiny number of modern pointillists, creating beautiful landscape paintings largely inspired by the local area. In his pointillist oil paintings Mark employs a meticulous technique, layering individual dots and dashes of colour to create mesmerizing landscapes. Each piece is a testament to his patience, eye for colour and mastery of the technique.
A self-taught artist, Mark began producing realistic graphite pencil drawings as a teenager before undertaking training in graphic design and subsequently specialising in illustration. This background training has proved useful to develop creatively later.
