I create vibrant architectural paintings which are intricate and graphic in style. My work combines abstracted elements and decorative architectural patterns with a striking colour palette. The rich architectural heritage of my home town of Buxton is a constant source of inspiration and my love of travelling is also reflected in my work. I create works in both watercolour and acrylic, often combining additional collage elements such as tickets, maps and hand written postcards. Drawing plays an important part in the development of my work and I often start with detailed studies drawn in situ.

Artist Statement
'Matcham Mosaic' is an exploration of colour and pattern featuring abstracted architectural elements from both the interior and exterior of the Buxton Opera House. A vibrant palette of colours in acrylic, with ink and collage are combined to create a mosaic effect named after the renowned theatre designer Frank Matcham.
'Designs on the Dome' brings together architectural elements in a complex overlapping design featuring elevations of the Devonshire Dome. Constructed with blocks of colour and layers of acrylic paint this abstracted design also incorporates written elements, fragments of collage and engineering drawings.
'Standing at the station' The heritage buildings at Cromford railway station inspired this painted montage featuring decorative elements including ornate ironwork, a Swiss style waiting room, station clock and wooden valancing. A figure on the bridge and lyrics in the painting pay homage to an Oasis song filmed there.
'Abstract Arches' Bold blocks of colour and abstracted architectural elements are intertwined in this dynamic composition exploring line and pattern. Painted in watercolour there are sections of subtle decoration intermixed with graphic shapes, hinting at arches, balustrades and windows.
