I work in both oil and water colour. My main concern is with Narrative Figurative images. The people I paint are not real but imagined. I use observation, sketchbooks, photographs and collected images to compose collages, on which I base my paintings. I currently have two themes, ‘Playing Games’, about tennis players, and ‘Family and Friends Eating Together’. The paintings are the essence of my observations.
My work from flowers allows my figurative oil paintings time to dry. The discipline of observing natural forms requires attention to shape, form and pattern as well as to colour matching and mixing.
