Artist Statement

I am an artist based in Staffordshire and I hope to provoke an emotion, create a connection or stimulate a memory through my paintings. I paint intuitively with oil and cold wax, exploring colour, abstract and the landscape. My approach is to freely apply the paint, stepping away from perfection, through adding texture, stripping back to the layers underneath and adding depth with a glaze.
I want the viewer to be immersed in my work, feel energy from it and for it to reveal another element each time the work is viewed.

Out of The Woods. Oil & Cold Wax. You are taken into the heart of this woodland. Amongst the density of the trees, the light shines through, coinciding with the metaphor 'Out of the Woods'.
Hello Autumn. Oil & Cold Wax. The green, gold and russet brown's tell you that summer has passed for another year and autumn is here.

Moody Moorland. Oil & Cold Wax. With its deep grey skies and rugged grassy moorland, you are hit with the dark mood that this landscape creates.

Escape. Oil & Cold Wax. You are immersed in the haze of the green-yellow sky, as it blends itself with the golden landscape. The storm is passing and the hope of blue peeks through.
