Artist Statement

I enjoy playing about with structure in the landscape.  Starting points include Neolithic Stone inscriptions,  Medieval Cross Slabs,  Quarries and Landscape in general.

I am particularly interested in the way natural formations can tend to appear manipulated or constructed.  The dialogue/interrogation happens via print, mixed media and painting.

In some work I have enjoyed trying to mimic the rich and complex surfaces often found in inked collagraph blocks.  These  attempts have resulted in a series of mixed media and painted responses which occupy that intriguing area of transition between painting and object.
