Sandy Constable

Artist Statement

I create stained glass pieces using traditional techniques. Endeavouring to capture my love of the surreal, nature and the sea, inspired by growing up on the East Coast and holidays in St Ives, a truly magical place of fabulous light and outstanding natural beauty,

My work is improvised, made without plans or sketches which I find inhibiting. I let things evolve, constantly changing the piece until I feel it has captured the look and creative energy I want. Recently I have enjoyed combining ceramics with my glass work, making Raku fired bases for fused glass figures which I find harmonising.
