Inspired by UK conservation red listed birds my work aims to convey character and sense of movement to engage the viewer in their story. Hand drawn imagery forms the foundations for translation into textile outcomes, where I use embroidery and print to marry painterly expressive marks with intricate details. I prefer to work with natural materials and engage with a slow-textiles, hand-crafted ethos, focused on hand embroidery and hand guided machine embroidery techniques. Colour palettes and composition are employed to cultivate a sense of calm.
