Much of our experience, our being, is wordless, intangible, transient and this mystery moves me to create abstract oil and wax paintings as objects of contemplation. The movement of a mark or gesture, the layering of paint and wax, the scribed line, all point to something beyond our conceptual mind and ask us what it is to perceive. Through texture, colour and form I hope to invoke a response in the viewer. I want my work to prompt questions. I also hope that the paintings bring some sense of what it is to love and to be alive.
