‘Moments/ Where do we go from here?’
In March 2021 I moved to Belper from Derby. I have always made work which relates to the place I am in, whether living or regularly visiting. Since moving, what caught my attention was the colour, interwoven movement, and moiré effect of Willows at the bottom of the garden, the Mill and the haze of the valley beyond. Exploring ways of depicting their sometimes soft, sometimes sharp lines in an ambiguous space, their colour intense or muted against a coloured ground provided a calming discipline throughout relentless daily news of war and political turmoil.
