Vitor Azevedo

Artist Statement

Vitor Azevedo Painter and curator, Studied Fine Art at the University of Derby. His work is inspired by his own personal history, stemming from a background of religious symbolism, family values, a love of the sea and the traditions of Portugal. His desire to create work using strong and expressive colour is central to his practice as a painter and is a directly inspired by growing up in a house with two non-sighted parents. ‘I enjoy the exploration of memories to freeze a portion of my own personal, cultural and social history through the construction of specific materials and concepts’.
