Artist Statement

My work is mainly ceramic, yet textile in origin .Using both traditional and digital techniques I decorate the surface of my handmade tiles with a combination of drawings, textile samples  found papers and glazes, sometimes adding wire, fabric or thread to the work, for a contrast in surface texture.Living near Wirksworth, the stunning views inspire me on a daily basis. I often use the local landscape as a starting point. Recent work has been larger and more ambitious in scale and format. I have also begun to take commissions.

Lockdown was the start of a new direction into cityscapes, as Florence, Rome, Venice and Barcelona. These textile and ceramic pieces capture the excitement, romance and pure artistry of these beautiful cities.

Some of my images are now available on velvet cushions, glass coasters and lampshades.
