Zo Marsh Artist Statement 2023

My work is mainly ceramic, yet textile in origin. I decorate the surface of my handmade tiles using both traditional and digital techniques sometimes adding wire for contrast.

Living near Wirksworth, the stunning views inspire me on a daily basis. Recent landscapes have been larger and more ambitious. I have also started to work to commission.

During lockdown I found an old travel journal. This was the start of a new direction into cityscapes, beginning with Florence, Venice, Rome and Barcelona. These textile and ceramic pieces are an attempt to capture the excitement and pure artistry of these beautiful cities.
